Mask Genie Weekend Pouch

I have been intrigued by Mask Genie‘s pouches for quite some time. They are always so well curated. So when I saw that there was a weekend pouch up for grabs, I decided to go for it. These are limited edition pouches that are available from time to time. Mask Genie also has monthly bags that you can order. This bag was 17$ USD or 21.77$ CAD. I purchased this back over the summer, and like a major slacker, I haven’t posted it yet. In fairness, I was in the process of moving when I got this, so that may excuse some delay?

Without further ado, let’s get to this!

2015-07-06 12.56.56

In this pouch, I received 9 masks. Of these masks, I only recognized 2 of them. I like receiving different masks as it lets me explore. (And that’s why kbeauty is awesome.)

It’s Skin Magic Shaping V-Mask Sheet

I used this as part of my November mask destashing. This is a hydrogel/fabric combo mask. It is hydrogel on the inside and has fabric on the outside. It’s a mask that you put on your chin line. It is supposed to have firming and soothing effects. Personally, I just found it a little weird and a lot restrictive. It was very tight.  It contains caffeine, pumpkin extract, and cucumber.

If you’re interested, I found it here for 2000 KRW (~2$ USD).

2015-07-06 13.10.34

Aritaum Morus Bark Fresh Essence Mask

I’ve never seen a mask made with tree bits before so this was a new experience for me. This was also a mask that it was really, really, really hard to find information online about. The most I could find out about this brand of mask is that they are available on Tester Korea for 1000 KRW.

2015-07-06 13.10.56

BeauNa Orange Pore Tightening Sheet Mask

This mask contains orange extract, which is great for tightening up pores and reducing their appearance. It also contains mineral water and is 5 free (Paraben, mineral oil, artificial dyes, animal oil and triethanolamine free). The packaging also says that it contains pathenol (Vitamin B5) and allantoin to help keep skin soft and supple. Mask Genie actually reviewed this mask, which you can read here.

2015-07-06 13.11.21

LoveMore Soy Milk Enzyme

I have heard so much about LoveMore masks. They seem to be a cult favorite if the internet is to be believed in this instance. Lovemore is a Japanese mask company. This mask contains soy (duh!) and natto, both to help with anti-aging. It also helps improve skin clarity and is deeply moisturizing.

2015-07-06 13.11.31

Beautymate 3D Multiple Refining Smooth V Mask

Since I reviewed this in my mask destashing back in November, I have copied what I said there. This is a Taiwanese mask from the company beautymate. This is the 3D Multiple Refining Smooth V Mask. It’s made from porous pearl paper. It’s for firming, whitening,  refining, moisturizing and smoothing.  I actually assumed this was one of those chin mask things before I opened it based on the V mask deal. It’s actually a full face sheet mask. It has no real odor and makes my skin a little tingly. This is the first time I’ve tried a mask from this company, and so far I’m impressed.

2015-07-06 13.11.46

Foodaholic Snail Mask

I’ve purchased this mask a few times off of TK. I think it’s a good bargain mask and I like putting snail goo products on my face. Snail goo as I like to call it, is great for improving elasticity and nourishing skin.

2015-07-06 13.12.02

Sasatinnie Aloe and Olive Mask

This is  Sasatinnie brand mask that also was used up during my November mask purge. It’s a deep moist silky mask according to the package. It’s a mask designed to brighten, hydrate and nourish. There’s a slight olive oil like smell but it’s not off-putting or anything like that. After taking it off, my skin is so so soft… until it went fiery red. I had a wicked reaction to something in this mask. My face was bright red and warm to the touch and the only bit of relief I was able to get was when I slathered on cooling cucumber gel on it in a very thick layer, but even that heated up very quickly. For that reason, this mask is on my “no way in hell” list. It could be free and I wouldn’t touch it.

2015-07-06 13.12.22

Holika Holika Pig Nose 3-Step

I enjoy these three step nose things. While I know that it’s not really attacking blackheads, it is removing sebaceous filaments in my nose. I like the process of all of these steps. It’s oddly relaxing. I usually buy one or two whenever I do a Kbeauty haul.

2015-07-06 13.12.37

SU:M 37 Bubble De-Mask

This is an entirely new type of mask for me.  It’s a mask that you apply for 5-7 minutes before washing off with warm water. It apparently relaxes the skin and creates a smooth face.  It bubbles up on the face and sort of tickles. It’s a good novelty product, but I’d never purchase a full size. I’m simply too cheap to do so.

And there you have it! My loooong overdue Mask Genie post. I think that this is a great value and I discovered a few masks that were awesome. And one that sucked. (I’m looking at you Sasatinnie.)

Have you tried this bag out? These masks? Let me know!

Cheers,

Kristen

2015-12-14 17.42.14

Overall:

This month’s box had a value of 26.50$.  For boxes such as this one (with the majority of the items coming from Etsy shops), my main criteria is that I at least get what I paid for.  I like discovering new etsy stores and having cute handmade items. I will likely save some of the candles for gifting, but I will be using the rest.

Have you tried this sub? What do you think?

Cheers,

Kristen

EOpenmarket Secret Boxes

EOpenMarket is an online Korean retailer and they offer Secret mystery boxes. Which just so happens to be two of my favorite things. I originally saw these on Beejuboxes  and immediately went and ordered. (Can you say no self-control? My poor wallet.)

Anyway, there are four different options when you order.

secretbox_2

I ordered 3 different boxes– one each of Whitening Care, Anti-aging Care and Moisture and Pore & Blackhead Care & Cleaning. This is where it gets a little tricky. There is no product card or list to tell me what belongs with what box. That means, it’s all up to my own interpretation as to what was in what secret box. The only one I know for sure which box it would have been in is the eggs (which I will speak on shortly).

Pore & Blackhead Care & Cleaning:

2015-12-28 10.03.51

Tonymoly Blackhead Steam Balm

This egg removes dead skin and sebum. It’s applied to the nose for 2-5 minutes and is massaged in. It is self-heating and contains salt, egg and charcoal.

Value: 5.17$

Tonymoly Tightening Cooling Pack

This egg helps to tighten up pores. It contains bentonite and kaolin from clay to help get rid of sebum and dirt in pores.

Value: 5.17$

Tonymoly Silky Smooth Balm

This is a primer designed to help hide large pores, fine wrinkles and scars. This contains egg white and camellia extract.

Value: 7.19$

And from here I can really only speculate.

2015-08-06 22.07.42

Secret Key Multi Cell Night Repair Eye Cream

This is an eye cream that contains adenosine to help with fine lines and wrinkles. The plant extracts help to protect against dryness. Niacin helps to brighten the eye area. It is also mineral oil, color, benzophenone, phenoxyethanol, paraben free. While this seems like a small container(15g), a little goes a LONG way. I’ve been using this off and on for months and I’ve hardly made a dent in this container.

Value: 13$

2015-08-06 22.08.15

Secret Key Multi Cell Night Repair Ampoule

This might actually be the first (and only) ampoule that I own. This is to be applied at night time to encourage moisturization of the skin. It is nutrient rich thanks to plant extracts (grapes, tomatoes, and green tea) and helps to repair fine lines and wrinkles. It contains arbutin and adenosine.

Value: 13$

2015-08-06 22.07.17-2

Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream

This is one of those “holy grail” products that I’ve seen on many other blogs. It’s a lightweight snail gel cream containing 74% snail secretion filtrate. It’s supposed to help your skin recover. I’ve only just started using it.  (I hope to do a full review later.)

Value: 8$

2015-08-06 22.08.36

Secret Key Snail+EGF Prestige Booster

I’ll admit that I had to do a fair bit of research to figure out what a booster is. From what I understand, it’s like a combo product to be used after cleansing.  It’s like a toner, emulsion, and essence all in one. This is for brightening and wrinkle relief. It contains snail mucus, EGF, birch tree extract, niacinmide, and bifida lysate as the main ingredients. It’s good for sensitive skin and for those who need less harsh products.

Value: 18$

2015-08-06 09.52.41-2

Tonymoly Panda’s Dream Eye Patch

Nothing super fancy here! It’s an under eye patch. I enjoy the pandas. I didn’t notice any crazy effect from this product, but it was relaxing to use.

Value: 1$

2015-08-06 09.52.21

Foodaholic Collagen Mask

I didn’t actually use this mask. I passed it on. But, I’ve used foodaholic masks in the past. I think they’re a good bargain and the ones I’ve tried have been nice.

Value: 1$

2015-08-06 09.52.27

Holika Holika Pig Nose 3-Step

I enjoy these three step nose things. While I know that it’s not really attacking blackheads, it is removing sebaceous filaments in my nose. I like the process of all of these steps. It’s oddly relaxing.

Value: 3$

I was pleasantly surprised by these boxes. They turned up a little worse for wear, but the products inside were cool. While I wish I hadn’t received a bunch of anti-wrinkle stuff, it is good anti-wrinkle stuff. I paid 60$ USD and received a value of a little over 75$ USD.

Have you tried these? What did you think? Did you think it’s worth it?

Cheers,

Kristen

November Beautiful Being Box

This is a relatively new Canadian Subscription box. Beautiful Being Box contains items from small businesses with the goal to make you smile, feel confident and beautiful and help you to see true beauty. Each box contains tea, a lip balm and 1-3 other products (usually from Etsy shops). These boxes are reasonably priced. They are 19.99$ per month (shipping included!!!), and you can often find deals for 3, 6 or year-long subscriptions. I bought a 3-month subscription and will receive the November, December and January box.

This company also has a rewards system. You receive 200 points for making an account and can earn additional points at a rate of 5 points per dollar spent.

Without further ado, let’s get to the box!

I love how well packaged this is! It’s a nice touch and made me feel extra special! I also really appreciated the personalized note on the inside of the package.

For some strange reason, I didn’t go picture crazy. I have this one picture, and my box is disassembled all over my apartment at the moment.

Maple Cream Tea

This is tea by the company Linen + Leaves. It’s described as ‘Perfectly cozy, Autumn flavors to comfort you on those cool fall days. ‘ I am so not a tea person so this will be passed onto someone who is.

Value: 1.60$

Orange Spice Lip Balm by Wild Prarie Botanicals

This is an orange-y lip balm and is described as ‘Sweet & warm. Perfect for cool fall nights and kick starting crisp mornings.’ Wild Prarie Botanicals is an Etsy shop out of Calgary, Alberta.

I actually haven’t opened this because I’ve added it to my Christmas gift pile. It’s that time of year and I like giving cute little gifts.

Value: 4.50$

Lavender Sachet

This is a lovely smelling lavender filled sachet from Atelier Emma Rose (the lavender) and Bear Earth Herbals (Organic Muslin bag). It is described as ‘Beautifully sweet and calming- perfect for freshening up drawers, closets, stinky shoes or placing under your pillow for a good night’s sleep.’

The extra muslin bag is actually for the tea (and not for extra lavender as I originally thought.) I think it was a nice touch to include that since not everyone would have one of those tea balls or infusers.

I stuck the lavender near my pillow and oh my goodness! It simply smells amazing! It’s very relazing.

Atelier Emma Rose is from Delaware Valley, USA and Bear Earth Herbals is from Michigan, USA.

Value: 3$

‘The Time is Meow’ Print

This is from Elemenopee (ha! LMNOP!) Design. It’s explained on the card as ‘A cute & friendly reminder to seize the day this refreshingly fun season.’

I have this on my dresser. It’s a cute sized print and I love the message. It’s like a cat themed version of carpe diem. I haven’t decided if I am keeping this or passing it onto a cat loving friend.

Value: 3$

Pearl Pendant Necklace

This is a necklace from Vachonista. It’s described as ‘This gooorgeous necklace is perfect for any occasion- simple & sophisticated!’

This is a beautiful necklace. It’s very sweet and elegant. That being said, it’s not exactly my style. I may give it a whirl, but I am not sure when I will wear this.

Value: 17$

Overall:

I was pleasantly surprised by the first (for me) box. I like the variety and it was a great pick me up. I received roughly a value of 30$, which is about 10$ more than I paid. For boxes such as this one (with the majority of the items coming from Etsy shops), my main criteria is that I at least get what I paid for.

Have you tried this sub? What do you think?

Cheers,

Kristen
