It should come as no surprise that I have a love for masks. Sheet masks, wash off masks, novelty masks– you name it, I like it. My Beauty Diary in Strawberry Yogurt

The natural strawberry extract in this mask is rich in fruit acids, minerals, and enzymes that brighten and soften the skin for a more youthful look. Combined with the active lactic acid ingredients from yogurt, the formula balances sebum production to shrink the appearance of pores and reduce the size and redness of blemishes. The mask also contains arbutin, a popular whitening ingredient that resists melanin and breaks it down beneath the skin for a brighter, more pearlescent complexion. With a sweet, fruity scent and instant results, this mask is all you need to improve your skin’s natural beauty.

Value: 1.99$

Oh my goodness this was a lovely mask! I really loved how moisturizing it was. It really amused/impressed me that it was on a piece of plastic to keep it from sticking together and making it that much easier to peel apart and put on.  If I didn’t already like My Beauty Diary masks, I certainly do now.

Baroness Pomegranate Mask Sheet

This moisturizing Baroness facial mask sheet is highly concentrated with pomegranate extracts which refresh, heal, and firm the skin. It reduces skin discoloration and regenerates the cells for an all over clean complexion.

Value: 1.80$

I haven’t opened this one yet, but I’ve used Baroness masks before. They’re decent. I don’t really have much more to say other than pomegranate is quite nice for my skin.

Nature Republic Shea Butter Hand & Nature Moisture Hand Mask

This moisturizing hand mask is good for your everyday lifestyle and you can wear them as your daily gloves. This moisture hand mask “hugs” every inch of your hands and its rich ingredients af vanilla, shea butter, honey, milk, and almond leaves your dry and rough hands hydrated and silky, while rich collagen makes your hands as soft and smooth as a baby’s.

Value: 4$

I am oddly excited about this mask. I like different types of masks and a hand mask is definitely different. I put it down somewhere in my apartment before going to use it and I  have NO clue where I left it. When I do remember, this will be used. My hands could use some serious TLC.

Etude House Raspberry Scrub Massage Yogurt

This yogurt wash-off pack gently massages the skin with its peeling particles. The raspberry has an antioxidant effect that provides rich vitamins to achieve clear and soft skin.

To Use: Dry face after cleansing and dispense appropriate amount, evenly applying onto face in a circular motion for 2-3 minutes with fingertips. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Value: 4.50$

I have actually received this before in a Beauteque bag. I really like this scrub, so having a few more around is a-ok with me. Plus, having extras around means that I can pass it on to friends and get them just a hooked on Korean Beauty supplies as I am. Mwhaha!

Cucumber Essence Mask

Value: 1.80$

I’ve used a few of these Daylight and Hue masks before, and I will say that they often seem to have different flavors. Cucumber is pretty normal and I’m glad to see a soothing mask in the mix. It’s just a matter of time until I get a sunburn and need some skin soothing.

Etude House Korean Ginseng

Reverse signs of aging with the revitalizing and nourishing benefits of Korean Ginseng in this sheet mask. This non sticky formula soaks into your skin on the perfectly shaped mask. Use on tired skin

Value: 1.99$

I adore the I Need You masks. The packaging is too cute! I will agree that  these masks aren’t sticky (I’ve tried others). I am not necessarily in need of anti-aging masks, but I will take nourishment and revitalizing any day.

Missha Pure Source Honey Sheet Mask

100% Pure Cotton Sheet Mask with serum derived from natural ingredients. It moisturizes for radiating skin with Honey Extract.

Value: 1.99$

I love honey masks! They are so good for moisture. I really like that these masks are 100% cotton and that they come pretty drenched with essence. I find that they don’t dry out and I can wear them for awhile.

Leaders Pore-Scaling Black Aqua Mask

Change your complexion with this renewing black mask enriched with various nutrients. Gets rid of excessive sebum, dead skin cell buildups, unclean skin, and dull-darkened skin. Formulated with extracts like Volcanic Ash, Sugar Maple Extract, Soybean Extract, and more to purify and tighten enlarged pores.

Value: 3.50$

I am very curious about this mask. I am saving this for a day when my skin is very oily so I am left wondering if it is actually a black colored mask or simply has black in the name due to ash. I have (what I feel) are large pores on my chin and nose, so I hope that this actually does make a difference. I’d be very happy if that were the case.

Hanaka Pomegranata Q10 Mask

This mask is made out of 100% natural wood pulp fiber from Japan and is completly decomposable after use, an eco-friendly mask!

Value: 1.80$

I like that I keep seeing new brands. I was introduced to Hanaka by Beauteque previously, and I am once again interested to see another mask. I like that this isn’t a Korean mask as Hanaka is a Japanese brand. I am definitely ok with that. I like discovering these types of things.

It’s Skin Todak Todak Pack Vitality

Leaves skin smooth, sillky and moisturized. Contains grape which is full of vitamin C and moisture to create clean and healthy skin. Contains blueberry for youthful looking skin.

To Use: After cleansing, apply a moderate amount all over face gently. Rinse off with warm water after 10-15 minutes.

Value: 3.50$

I’ve had a Todak Todak pack before and I found that it worked nicely. This one has a lot of blue/purple things in it to make my skin nice and soft.

Overall:

I paid about 22$ with the cost of the bag and shipping to Canada (in USD). I received a value of 26.87$. It’s a little under what I paid, once I factor in shipping. I received a lot of different masks and I appreciate the variety this month. I look forward to seeing what is in my June bag.

What did you think of the May bag? Did you discover any new faves?

Cheers,

Kristen

Beauteque Mask Maven: April

  • If you subscribe, you will be resubscribed the 20th of the month.
  • You have until the 10th to subscribe to get that months bag. From the 11th onward, you will receive the next months bag.

I signed up during a promo period that said if I signed up for a 3 month subscription, that I would receive an extra mask. I also feel the need to mention that this is a bit different than some of my other posts, and a bit rambly at times.  I like to comment on things, and where masks are pretty standard, I feel I can do that a bit more in these posts.

So, without any further ado, let’s check out what I received.

There was an informational card that explains how to use the different masks. It didn’t say anything about what kinds, since I believe that there were many, many variations. I think that the brands are similar, but the “flavors” were different. In this post, I will write about some of the key ingredients and why they are useful for the skin.

Now, onto the masks!

black mask

Hanaka 2 Step Pore Eraser

Value:2.75$

This is a mask designed to remove blackheads and help clear the skin. It had a mask that is to be spread on the skin (step 1) and a second step, which is sort of like a toner. I’m not really sure if this did anything, but it was fun to use. I got to put black goop on my face, wait for it to harden, and then peel it off.  I found that there was a lot of product in the package in spite of it being a one time use thing. I put it on my chin and my t-zone and still had enough for another use (or would have, had it been possible to perserve it).

Ingredients:

Mask: Water, Rose Water, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone, Chamomile Extract, Grape Leaf Extract, Witch Hazel Extract, Aloe Vera Extract, Cucumber Pepo Fruit Ferment Extract, Kaolin

Toner: Water, Aloe Barbadensis, Epilobium Fleischeri Extract, Cucumber Extract, Licorice Extract, Witch Hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana) Extract, Hydrolyzed Manihot Esculenta Tuber Extrac, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Alcohol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Phenoxyethanol, Ethythexylglycerin, Chlorphenesin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Perfume (source)

cheek patch

Tonymoly Red Cheeks Girl’s Patch

Value: 2.50$

This is a hydrogel like mask designed for the cheeks. It contains aloe vera and cucumber extracts as well as green tea and kelp. I used this shortly after the arrival of my mask maven since Sprinter decided to end and spring happened. Which means my skin went a little nuts and was very dry. I found these very soothing and moisturizing. I would definitely repurchase to have on hand for times when I need some extra moisture on my cheeks.

coix mbd

My Beauty Diary Coix Seed Mask

Value: 1.99$

Coix seed is another name for Job’s tear (something else I’ve never heard of before). It’s a grain and is commonly found grown in South East Asia. This mask contains seaweed, hydrolysed yeast and cosphingo (to help with long lasting moisturizing).  I haven’t had the chance to use this one yet, but I look forward to it. I find I quite like My Beauty Diary masks.

collagen etude house

Etude House I Need You Collagen

Value: 1.99$

This mask contains collagen and rosemary to encourage hydration and moisturizing of the skin. It can help strengthen the skin and help keep it youthful looking. While I don’t need more youthful skin yet, I love a sheet mask, any sheet mask.

juicy mango

Holika Holika Mango

Value: 2.20$

Mango is used for keeping vitality on the skin. The back of the package speaks of radiant skin and is branded as a revitalizing mask. It has mango, watermelon and apple in it. I’ve used holika holika masks before and I quite like them. I also adore how vibrant the packaging is.

juicy pomegranate

Holika Holika Pomegranate

Value: 2.20$

This mask is for elasticity. This mask contains pomegranate, grapefruit and peach. It is rich in vitamins and is free from harmful ingredients (this entire line is).  I’ve used this brand of masks before and they are full of essence and I find they work well on my skin.

leaders

Leaders Amino AC-Free Mask

Value: 3.00$

This is a mask for oily skin. I have read so many good things about Leader masks, but I have never tried one myself.  This particular mask is calming + amino acid and contains aspartic acid, AHA, BHA and snail secretion filtrate.

milk 3w

3w Fresh Milk Mask

Value: 3$

This mask contains milk to help soften the skin and keep it nice and supple. Milk protein is apparently really good for your skin, and I happen to quite like milk masks and they work well for my skin.

red wine mbd

My Beauty Diary Red Wine

Value: 1.99$

I can honestly say that I have never received a wine mask before. This idea intrigues me. Red wine can help repair signs of ageing, fix sun damage and help clear up the skin. Sounds pretty good to me.

Overall:

I paid about 22$ with the cost of the bag and shipping to Canada (in USD). I received a calculated value of 22$, so roughly around what I paid. As always, these prices are rough and often by the company who curated this bag. If you shop around, you can often find masks cheaper.

I like masks. This month I was a bit disappointed to only see 9 masks in the mix, but there were a few more expensive options. I liked that it wasn’t almost all sheet masks this month, but there could be even more variety. I have at least one more month coming so I am quite looking forward to seeing what I will get. (Since international shipping takes a bit, I can usually scope it out on instagram before it gets to me. )

Ecopure Essential Kiwi Juice Mask

Value: 1,99$

This mask contains kiwi  extract(duh!) and ubiqionone (Coenzyme 10).  It’s a triple layer mask that has oodles of essence.

  • Kiwi Extract: Kiwi’s contain lots of vitamin C, and vitamin C is good for your skin. Vitamin C helps encourage collagen production and helps to keep your skin soft.
  • Coenzyme 10: This ingreditent is good for wrinkles and helps encourage collagen and elastin production in the skin.

This is one of the masks that I’ve tried so far and it was very moisturizing and felt so nice. I will definitely try to get more of these on one of my next internet hauls. There are so many versions of this mask and I’d really like to try the watermelon kind.

Daylight & Hue Herb Essence Mask

Value: 1,80$

Herb extracts are useful in keeping your skin. Also, the smell of this mask is supposed to help you relax and destress.  I did notice that herb extract is one of the last ingredients on the list, so I’m not sure how much it’ll do, but I’m willing to try it out.

 2015-03-28 11.53.222015-03-28 14.37.41

Baroness Collagen Mask Sheet

Value: 1,80$

This mask contains collagen (surprising, yes?). Collagen is actually a protein in the body that makes up part of your hair, bones and skin. Collagen helps give skin the elastic quality. This mask is reported to help skin elasticity, reduce fine lines and help your complexion look more youthful. I’m not necessarily in need of this yet, but I like sheet masks, so this will be used.

Missha Pure Source Sea Kelp

Value: 1,99$

This mask contains sea kelp which can be used to help hydrate and nourish the skin. It’s also a fairly common anti-aging ingredient according to my googling.  I wonder if it will smell like kelp too once I open it. I sort of hope not. There are many versions of the Missha Pure masks such as pearl, caviar and raspberry.

My Beauty Diary Masks: Arbutin Whitening and Luffa

Value: 1,99$ each

Luffa Mask : This is a moisturizing and soothing mask. It’s apparently great after sun exposure because it helps hydrate the skin quickly.  Luffa is a type of cucumber found in more tropical regions. Luffa can also be spelled as loofah and can actually be used as a sponge. Crazy! So I will be wearing a mask infused with something that can be made into a sponge.

Arbutin Whitening: Arbutin is often found in skin care as something to help whiten the skin. It can actually help make the skin less dull and brighten it up. Sounds good to me! Winter skin is the worst.

2015-03-28 11.52.392015-03-28 14.38.47

Daylight & Hue Avocado Sheet Mask

Value: 1,80$

Avocados contain vitamins and vitamins are good for your skin. (Who would of thought, right?) Avocados have a good concentration of vitamin C and vitamin E.  Vitamin C is useful for elastin and collagen production whereas Vitamin E is good for helping to reduce skin damage from sun exposure. This seems like it would be a really good mask for once it’s a bit warmer than 0C or below as it currently still is. I may need to save this one for later.

2015-03-28 11.52.512015-03-28 14.38.36

Medicos-V Snow White Mask

Value: 3,00$

This mask is all about hydration. It’s also very useful for brightening, whitening and improving skin tone. This is also the fanciest mask in the lot.

Given it’s fancier (read: more expensive) price tag, I had high hopes when I tried this mask. I found it left my skin so, so, so soft. I couldn’t believe how smooth my face felt. This masks essence dried and it wasn’t sticky.  I may need to pick up a few more of these because I really liked it. Plus, the name Snow White sort of made me feel princess-y, which is a silly thing I enjoyed.

2015-03-28 11.53.002015-03-28 14.37.49

3W Clinic Snail Mask

Value: 1,80$

Ah, good ol’ snail goo. Snail is actually really good for your skin because it helps promote quick healing and is often seen in anti-ageing things. I have seen a good effect from other snail products I’ve used, so I can’t see why this one would be any different. I’ve also heard so many good things about the 3W masks.

2015-03-28 11.53.122015-03-28 14.38.18

Dermal Syn-Ake Collagen Essence Mask

Value: 2.99$

My first syn-ake product! Syn-ake is designed to replicate the venom of a viper because viper venom reportedly helps reduce wrinkles. (This isn’t real snake venom, it’s man-made.) Syn-ake is apparently marketed as an alternative to botox.

I’m a bit nervous about trying this one since there seem to be so many mixed reviews on the safety of syn-ake and the reactions people have had.

2015-03-28 11.52.13

Etude House Strawberry Yogurt Wash Off Mask

Value: 2$

I believe this was a bonus item because I signed up during the promo period. This is a strawberry wash-off mask that is actually part of a four pack when bought on other sites. Essentially, this is massaged on, left for 10-15 minutes and then rinced off. Strawberries can help get rid of or reduce acne because strawberries are a bit acidic and they help get rid of oil and excess face gunk.

Overall:

I paid about 22$ with the cost of the bag and shipping to Canada. With my bonus, and using the companies pricing, I received roughly 23$ in value.  I say roughly because I know that with some shopping around, you can get more for the price I paid. That being said, I have high hopes for this subscription. This was just the first month and I hope that there will be more of a variety of types of masks next month since I received uniquely face masks.
