L’Oréal Hydra Total 5 VoxBox

I was lucky enough to receive on of the L’oréal Hydra Total 5 voxboxes from Influenster not too long ago and I have finally reached my verdict on the products! Before I dig into my review, I’d just like to mention that I received this product in exchange for an honest review. Now that that little disclaimer is out of the way, onto the product!

I received the Hydra Total 5 Ultra-Fresh routine which came with a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. The Ultra-Fresh line is for oilier skin, which I definitely can have.

Hydra Total 5 Ultra Fresh Gel Cleanser

This is a gel cleanser that has five different things that it is designed to do. It is supposed to cleanse, remove impurities, refresh, tighten pores and brighten the skin.

I found that it cleansed my skin well, but that I definitely needed a moisturizer afterward. I’m not used to using products with alcohol in it and it did dry out my cheek area. That being said, it is amazing for acne breakouts. Those blasted little pimples didn’t stand a chance against this stuff.

Ingredients: AQUA, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, COCO-BETAINE, GLYCERIN, SODIUM CHLORIDE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, BENZYL SALICYLATE, CITRIC ACID, CITRONELLOL, GERANIOL, HEXYL CINNAMAL, HYDROXYCITRONELLAL, LIMONENE, LINALOOL, MENTHOL, POLYQUATERNIUM-7, PPG-5-CETETH-20, SALICYLIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, PARFUM (source)

Hydra Total 5 Ultra Fresh Toner

This is the second step of the routine, after the gel cleanser and before the gel-cream. This toner has the job of toning, removing impurities, refreshing the skin, tightening pores and smoothing the skin.

I definitely felt this having an effect on my skin. It made it tingle and feel cool to the touch. I found it also helped remove stray bits of makeup that my cleanser didn’t quite get. I think it’s a decent toner and works well paired with the other products in the ultra-fresh line.

Ingredients: AQUA, ALCOHOL DENAT., GLYCERIN, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, PEG-60 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, PANTHENOL, DISODIUM EDTA, METHYLPARABEN, CI 19140/YELLOW 5, CI 42090/BLUE 1, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, LINALOOL, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, LIMONENE. (source

Hydra Total 5 Ultra-Fresh Gel-Cream Moisturizer

This is the third step of the routine, after the cleanser and toner. This step is supposed to provide all day moisture, revitalize, refresh and soften the skin, as well as tone.

I really like the smell of this product. It just smells so refreshing! I found that this isn’t a heavy moisturizer. It would be perfect for the hot summer months when the last thing you want is to slather on some thick cream to moisturize your poor skin. I really had to slather this on to help my poor winter weary skin stay moisturized. In this case, I think the alcohol ingredients are fighting the moisturizing ingredients and preventing adequate moisture.

Ingredients: AQUA, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, PRUNUS ARMENIACA KERNEL OIL, GLYCERIN, ALCOHOL DENAT., BUTYLENE GLYCOL, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER, AMMONIUM POLYACRYLDIMETHYLTAURAMIDE, ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, BENZYL BENZOATE, BHT, BIOSACCHARIDE GUM-1, BUTYLPARABEN, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, CALCIUM GLUCONATE, CHLORPHENESIN, CHOLESTEROL, CI 19140, CI 42090, CITRAL, CITRIC ACID, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS EXTRACT, DIMETHICONE, DISODIUM EDTA, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, ETHYLPARABEN, HEXYL CINNAMAL, HYDROXYISOHEXYL 3-CYCLOHEXENE CARBOXALDEHYDE, LIMONENE, LINALOOL,MAGNESIUM GLUCONATE, METHYLPARABEN, PANTHENOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, PROPYLPARABEN, SODIUM CITRATE, T-BUTYL ALCOHOL,  TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TRIETHANOLAMINE, PARFUM. Overall:

I like the simplicity of this routine. Three steps and you’re done. I think that for my skin (combination where I have an oily t-zone and chin and dryer cheeks), this would be the answer for the summer months and probably isn’t the best choice for the winter when the temperature can be -20C one day and 10C the next. I think that this line (and the other two lines in this series) are good drug store options that really underline the importance of multi-step skincare.

Have you tried this line? What did you think?
